The Borough Council Committee works with the Borough Council, Secretary Treasurer, and Borough Manager to manage and maintain the fiscal stability of South Coatesville Borough.

Recreation Committee

A Borough Council Committee that regularly meets to discuss, plan and oversee Adult, Seniors, Children and Youth activities within the Borough. The Borough Council Committee is responsible for organizing and maintaining recreation programs and events within the Borough throughout the entire year. 

Economic Committee

Economic development refers to this Committee’s sustained, concerted actions that promote this Borough’s standard of living and economic health. It can also be referred to as our economy’s quantitative and qualitative changes. These actions can involve multiple areas, including developing human capital, critical infrastructure, regional competitiveness, environmental sustainability, social inclusion, health, safety, literacy, and other initiatives.

Zoning/Building

Zoning may be use-based (regulating the uses to which land may be put), or it may regulate building height, lot coverage, and similar characteristics, or some combination of these. Similar urban planning methods have dictated the use of various areas for particular purposes in this Borough.

Zoning is used to also prevent new development from interfering with existing residents or businesses and to preserve the“character” of a community. Zoning is commonly controlled by local governments such as counties, cities, Boroughs or municipalities, though the nature of some zoning regime may be determined or can be limited by state or national planning authorities or through enabling legislation.

Recycling & Waste

The Borough of South Coatesville recycles once a week on Thursday. All Business and Home owners are encouraged to recycle. Recycling information is found in the Resource Center. South Coatesville’s Recycling Committee meets monthly with the four municipal members of the Recycling Authority to plan, discuss and manage the Compost site, and recycling trash. Borough made compost is free to each participating recycling Municipality and its residents.

  • Daily: Monday to Friday; Municipality pickup
  • Residents: Tuesday Compost pickup/Personal Recycle

Borough Council Committee of Council Members that work together to maintain the Borough of South Coatesville’s online Web Site, for the Borough, its residents, its business partners and Council Members.

Planning Commission

Borough of South Coatesville Citizens are appointed by Borough Council Members, to serve terms of 3 to 4 years each. The memberships appointed assignments are to review and make written recommendation’s to Borough Council in regards to projects at hand.

Meeting Date: 2nd Monday of each month, as needed.

Zoning/Hearing Board

Borough Citizens appointed to serve on a Board to hearing Zoning issues of Residences within the Borough, according to the laws written in the Borough Code Book and Zoning ordinances of the Borough.

Vacancies

The Borough of South Coatesville has a current vacancy for a Council Woman or Council Man. Anyone interested in serving the borough in this capacity, must have resided in the borough for at least one year.
